9:00AM 12:00PM Go Gray in May 5K May is National Brain Tumor Awareness Month. In honor of the over 700,000 people in the United States living with a primary brain tumor, several of which have connections to the Newfound area, we are holding a fundraiser 5K to raise money for the National Brain Tumor Society. It’s all in the details…. Go Gray in May 5K will be held in Kelley Park Bristol, NH. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and race start time will be 9:00 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to fastest overall male and female. This is a 3.1 mile course that will be timed by Granite State Race Services. Participants can choose to run or walk the event. Participants with dogs and strollers will be asked to start at the back of the runners, and dogs will need to be leashed and in control throughout the event. Directions: From I-93 turn onto Rt 104 West and follow approximately 4.5 miles into downtown Bristol. Take right onto North Main Street in center of town (This One Way street runs in front of the entrance to TD Bank). Parking is available in designated parking spots along North Main, the parking lot on right on the corner of Mayhew Street and at Newfound Memorial Middle School. 2:00PM 4:00PM Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra Family Concert The Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra (LRSO) invites you to our Free Family Concert on Sunday April 9, 2017 at 3 pm at Inter-Lakes high school in Meredith. Admission is FREE for children and students and only $5 for adults.This performance featuring talented students will inspire and engage children and adults of all ages. We feature a performance by the Inter-Lakes High School Select Chorus under the direction of Ms. Emily Eynon. The main orchestral portion features Benjamin Britten’s famous “Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra”, which introduces us to the various instruments and musical styles that make an orchestra work. Also featured are students Daniel Greene and Erin Reed performing the third movement from the Bach Concerto in D minor for Two Violins.One lucky child will be chosen to conduct the Orchestra performing the Stars and Stripes Forever. Doors open at 2:00pm with a “musical petting zoo” for children to try out different instruments and become part of the music. Last year’s “zoo” was so engaging we almost forgot perform the concert!This April 9th concert is the fourth in the LRSO’s spectacular 2016-2017 season. Reserve the date now for our fifth concert - the season closer - on May 13th, our POPS concert featuring the incomparable music of Frank Sinatra performed by crooner Michael Gallagan. Michael was our guest performer at our sold-out holiday concerts in 2015. You don’t want to miss this fabulous event.TICKETS – please read below if you are attending the May concert… Tickets for the April 9th Family Concert are FREE for children and students and only $5 for adults. Tickets are available online at www.LRSO.org/tickets and at the door starting at 2pm.For the MAY 13th concert, we manage multiple ticket sources. Tickets are available online at www.LRSO.org/tickets, but will say “sold out” when the online allocation is depleted. It does not mean we are out of tickets! They may still be available at our retail ticket outlets, Innisfree Bookshop and Greenlaw’s Music. Some of these tickets may be collected early from the outlets and re-released online. Please check with the outlets and continue checking our web site since status can change even after the event says “sold out”. Buy early. $15 adults, $8 students. We are already 60% sold.The Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra is a Meredith-based, non-profit orchestra that performs throughout the fall, winter, and spring months. Orchestra members range in age from teens through retired seniors, representing over 36 communities in the Lakes Region and beyond.
